A few questions about linkblogs, selecting a "Range", image uploading
- *Linklists / Linkblogs*<br />
My site is mainly links and I’m having some difficulty figuring out how to best structure it. I started writing out my current setup but it was rambly.
<br />Short version is I use articles as containers for multiple linklists. I read a criticism of doing this in a post here but I couldn’t find an answer as to why this is bad (using articles for linklists) or what the recommended way of handling a “linkblog” with Textpattern is.
<br />Is there anyway to put to use the hierarchal link categories I’ve created?
<br /> - *Selecting a Range*<br />
I cannot figure out if the “Range” feature (to the right of “All” and “None” where you’re able to select checkboxes to apply an action to a group; visible in Articles and Links) is broken or I just don’t know how to use it but when I click it, nothing happens. What is it supposed to do?
<br /> - *Link Sorting Issue*<br />
When I sort my list of links on the links tab and then click to go to the next page it is no longer sorted. How can I fix/change this? This is a big pain because I have over 20 pages of links.
<br />Also, is there a way to change preferences for features such as displaying more than 100 at a time or only displaying items within a certain category (is this what the “Range” feature is supposed to do?) Or get an internal search to find specific items?
<br /> - *How can I add custom fields to the links section?*<br />
Clueless. I want to be able to get more data entry fields into the links section (which I use a bookmarklet to quickly get items into).
<br /> - *Get Images Uploaded Faster*<br />
Does anyone know of an image upload bookmarklet or any way to put a URL for an image directly into an article and then have that image uploaded to your Textpattern site to your images tab? (I saw that functionality in screenshots for WP.)
<br />Or, does any clever person have suggestions for how to integrate Snipshot’s bookmarklet with Textpattern so the image could be saved straight to your site instead of your HD?

(I have looked through the forums, Textbook and the Textpattern Resources as well as google searches about all these questions. I’m still trying to get through the entire Improving TXP Image Management thread)

2. It’s for easily selecting a range of checkboxes, but not all of them. You check the first box, then the last box, then select range. It will check all the boxes in between.
3. Fixed in svn, will be available in 4.0.4.
4. Not possible without modifying the core files or finding/creating a plugin that will do this.

4. Do you have a specific article, plugin or tutorial that you recommend I look into that might be a starting point for this type of alteration? Is this a feature that might happen in a future txp release (i.e. option to use custom fields wherever, not just for articles)?
