JM Deldin Photography

For the first time in ten months, I finally finished my photo site’s layout! I’ve finished customzing textpattern to my needs on my photosite/photoblog. I still have some work to do on categories for a gallery style section, but that’s for a later date…

Thanks,
JM

Re: jmdeldin.com

I really like the simplicity of the site, JM. I do have one suggestion for you though! I think you should put a link down by your arrows on the front page that will show all of the thumbnails. I wouldn’t have known that I could view them all at once unless I had clicked on “Gallery” up at the top. Maybe something like “View All” or “All” or a little graphics that has several boxes that might indicate that they can view them at once as thumbnails. Just my $0.02. Good luck with the site!

P.S.- I love this picture!

Re: jmdeldin.com

Thanks! While I liked the previous design, I wanted to do something different and actually use graphics and gradients. I don’t know why, but for the past year I’ve had this fear of placing imagery into my site.

I’d like your input on the following:
- Does it feel too “cramped” on the single photo pages?
- Should pagination be added to the thumbnails page? Maybe at every 30 photos.

Issues:
- Opera 8 hides the logotype. I need to edit the z-index again (it was working for a week). Opera 9 is fine.
- IE7b2 still suffers from the same bugs as IE6, so it’s getting a separate stylesheet. Guess MS didn’t fix much as far as positioning goes. IE does space out the border occasionally, but it’s not a huge worry (I’m lazy).

Re: jmdeldin.com

I think it’s fairly straight forward, nice work, really, allso the photography is awfull (Doggiez would like that),
I am having trouble a little bit with readability on the preformatted code blocks of the article section, here the background-pattern in combination with the font style makes it really hard to read the code snippets.(viewing from Safari)

regards, marios

Re: jmdeldin.com

Thanks for the input on the code blocks. I’ll add some kind of background (and Monaco for a font family too) if I have time this weekend.

[edit] Just changed the font. It’s seems a lot more readable now. Anyone else?

Revamped

Yea, it’s even simpler! Since I’m away from my calibrated monitor, I have no idea how readable it is (if the text is too light). What do you think?

Re: jmdeldin.com

I have to stare and concentrate in order for the letters to pop off the page.

Nice. I like grey on white but the grey is a little too light for me, it’s hard work reading that page. Perhaps opening the character spacing up a little with a letter-spacing: 1px; would help too?

gets carried away look at the dog photos

I like the look of the site. Nice and elegant. I especially like the way you’ve chosen to present the design section. :)
