2 rss files
How can I have 2 different rss-files for different sections?
I have my normal Blog and a photoblog in 2 different sections and want to link directly to both.
Is this possible?

Re: 2 rss files
Sure (make note of the “section” attribute). :)

Re: 2 rss files
Thanks…
But I don’t see how you get the meta-tag?
(link rel=“alternate” type=“application/rss+xml” title=“RSS 0.92” href=”/?rss=1”)

Re: 2 rss files
href="/rss/?section=sectionname&limit=5" and wrap it in if_section tags?

Re: 2 rss files
I’m glad I found this before I posted a new thread :)
I’ve understood what I’ve read here (it’s not hard after all) – my question is somewhat different though.
I want to be able to write articles aimed at: web types, and also business owners. Sometimes there will be crossover, sometimes not. I don’t want potential clients having to read all the geek stuff.
How should I best set it up so that I can have two feeds, each with info that is relevant to each group? I don’t have any categories set up yet – frankly I’ve never been able to find any docs that explained them sufficiently for me to really grasp them, other than the obvious “my article is about [this]” aspect of it.
Edit: currently I have one section called ‘blog’ (woo!) – I have noticed also that in the docs for txp:feed_link it says “Selected from available link categories.” What have links got to do with feeds? Does this mean linked categories, and that I could write (txp:feed_link label=“XML” category=“business related” section=“blog” flavor=“rss” wraptag=“p” />) and also have (txp:feed_link label=“XML” category=“geek stuff” section=“blog” flavor=“rss” wraptag=“p” />) and achieve what I want ?
Thanks in advance.

Nothing, that page is incorrect. The category attribute works the same way as the section attribute.
…that I could write… and achieve what I want ?
Yes.

Aaaaaaah that funny feeling in ya tummy from finding out something good happened! :)
Thanks Mary (again).
While we’re on it, can you demystify why Jon Hicks has about a dozen feeds on his site and they’re all fed differently? I can appreciate that some of them are not associated with his website (flickr etc) but why has he got one going thru feedburner and not the others etc?
I’m a bit new to all this blog/feed malarky (really good seeing as I’m a developer, eh?) :)
How rude of me… : http://www.hicksdesign.co.uk/about/rss/

Re: 2 rss files
janw, do something like:
<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="RSS 0.92" href="<txp:site_url />?rss=1§ion=blog" />
<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="RSS 0.92" href="<txp:site_url />?rss=1§ion=photo-blog" />
(Assumes your sections are named “blog” and “photo-blog”.)

You’d have to ask him for certain but one can speculate that :
His Journal and Podacast go through feedburner so he can take advantage of increased traffic and get close to real-time stats on subscribers to the feeds.
The Sidenotes, which is a collection of links he deems interesting, and the music he’s currently listening too are fed directly as he possibly isn;t as interested in the amount of traffic they get, or in monitoring their stats as closely. They use differend URL structures but that may be any number of reasons from static vs dynamic pages to just created at different times, in different moods, in different ways.
The Flikr and del.icio.us are of course third party feeds to his account space on those services.
Now – if my luck follows it’s usual course – he’ll show up in about an hour and prove all my assumptions worng :-)
