Show list of 'sub-article' titles when article is showing
Hi,
I am having trouble figuring out how to structure my help….going round in circles and slightly nuts. PLease help if you can.
Here’s the section of my site I need help with
Top nav is made by ako-nav.
Left sidebar is a list of sticky articles according to section.
But how do achieve the following?:
When you click ‘Why are we here?’ that article appears, fine. But what if I want to fake a 3rd level of navigation ‘under’ the level ‘Why are we here?’…? How can I do that? Is it possible? I thought that I might be able to do it by posting other articles and being smart with the categories but can’t figure how. : (
Say I want 3 articles to appear ‘under’ ‘Why we are here?’ called why2, why3, why4….(I don’t want the titles of these articles to appear in the sidebar, I just want to position a list of the titles of these at the top of the initial ‘Why we are here?’ article)
Can anyone tell me how they would do it? I’d be the happiest man alive if you could show me how..
Thanks!

Can’t you do this with txp:related_articles?

Re: Show list of 'sub-article' titles when article is showing
Thanks Els.
You’ll have to excuse my TXP amateurness, but if I post the other ‘sub-articles’ as live and use txp:related as you suggest, that works except that these subarticles appear cronologically at the foot of my main sticky article too, which I don’t want. If I post them as sticky they appear in the sidebar and txp:related doesn’t work. Any ideas?
Thanks

Do you mean that it is showing the list of titles of the ‘sub’articles correctly, but also the full ‘sub’articles are displayed again after the main article? What is the exact article tag you are using for this page, and where did you put the related_articles tag?

Re: Show list of 'sub-article' titles when article is showing
Well, if I post them as live then it does work, but the titles of all live articles also appear beneath the main sticky article (which I don’t want).
I’m using:
<code>
<txp:article limit=1 form=“static_article” status=“sticky” />
</code>
in this page
…which means that this page doesn’t actually display live articles, so it goes nowhere. I am sure there is a better way to do this sort of navigation, but I can’t see how.
Can you steer me in the right direction ELs?

Re: Show list of 'sub-article' titles when article is showing
You’re right, I’ve been trying to use <txp:related_articles /> this way on a test install of mine, and I can’t get it to work properly either.
A workaround would be to handcode the links to the other articles inside the article, using the excerpt field if you’re not using that. Then add <txp:if_excerpt><txp:excerpt /></txp:if_excerpt> in the article form (don’t know if the if_excerpt tags are really necessary here).
