WYSIWYG Editors
Hey all.
I´m just wondering if someone is building “new” wysiwyg editors for TXP…
Currently I use TinyMCE but I think there are two many faults in it, like when I use it
it allways makes p elements in the start and in the end of an articles.. Maybe someone
has a solution for me about that…
Also it is missing allot of features, in some way I like the FCKEditor but it has it´s faults,
like too many options, then again it could be nice sometimes…
I´m thinking about this because I have some people that need to write in articles and they
have no clue about code …
Is there something else that I could try out than TinyMCE ?
Thanx, Gústi.

I take it these are extra p elements?
You can try upgrading your version of TinyMCE, if the one you’re using is old. You can also make use of the “cleanup” button of the toolbar, or remove them by hand with the “html” button of the toolbar. I dunno if you’ll have those or not, I think maybe they were pre-configured for you in the plugin?
There was limitation doing this before, because of Textpattern being GPL-licensed. Version 4.1 (the next major stable release) will be under a BSD license, which will open up a lot more possibilities for plugins. Like making plugins to link with commercial software (as in, something you’ve paid for), for example.
What do you think about XStandard (the free one)? The downside is you have to install a browser plugin to use it, but on the upside it outputs very clean markup.

Thank you Mary,
I have the up-to-date version installed I think..
Do you have any idea when the new system will be realesed ,-) ?
Thank you again for quick replay..

Re: WYSIWYG Editors
If you are getting empty paragraph tags in the begining and end of the article bodie you can configure tiny to remove empty paragraphs. You just have to specify a form to use for the editor initialization in the admin panel that has the parameters you want.
The thing I like about tinyMCE is that you can customize everything about it including what markup it allows or does not allow.

Re: WYSIWYG Editors
I think Xstandard Lite looks VERY promising! There is a new mac version out, too.
I have attempted to wrap my head around how we’d implement this into Textpattern but I am lost.
Anyone have any pointers?
Thanks.
