Re: ign_password_protect

To any and all I figured out how to solve my problem ie a client log in that uses multiple articles assigned to different clients, but just one section. It turned out to be easier than I anticipated. The only thing I could not do, so I worked around it, was put the log in on the same screen as the home page. I now have them going to a log in area that then allows them to log in and see their protected information.

If anyone wants more info just let me know.

——————————————-
I think I found my answer to the below post which is redirection is not an option …

if that is true can anyone give me guidance on how I may be able to use only 1 section and just assign sepearet articles for each client.

Thanks in advance.

———————————————-

I hope someone can assist, and I apologize if this issue has been covered, but I could not find the answer. I have used the ign_password_protect with success in the past, but it was an all or nothing type of site (ie everyone or no one).

Now I am building a site where each client will need access to seperate articles.

My questions is, how do I create one user login screen that redirects the user to their appropriate area once they login ….

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

And thanks for the great plug in.

I’m pretty new in this thread, but if I’m not mistaken from reading posts 211 – 213 (page 9) you can’t do a single login that redirects people to different locations.

Thanks for the reply. That is kinda what I thought also, but wanted to confirm. Maybe someone will figure out a way down the road …

Re: ign_password_protect

I am absolutely new to this thread… so the way i understand this plugin works is: i have to register user in txp´s backend and with those logindetails they can login to protected section f. e.. Right?

Re: ign_password_protect

yes, you have to create user accounts against which the plugin validates. you can use either the existing txp_users table (admin->site admin tab), or you can use a custom table the plugin can create (extensions->ign_user_mgmt).

do take a few minutes to skim through this thread to note the shortcomings, however, as there are a few issues (localization being one of them, unfortunately).

Re: ign_password_protect

Thanks Igner for the fast reply. I just realised there is an extension :) how nice. However i tried to update the database throught this extension and got this error:
Notice: Undefined index: dbcharset in /www/htdocs/…/textpattern/lib/txplib_misc.php(459) : eval()’d code on line 585

would that referr to the language/localisation as i gave it a spin on a site run in german ?

PS i am on TXP v. 4.0.3

Re: ign_password_protect

That’s just a warning that the variable $dbcharset (or more accurately, $txpconfig[‘dbcharset’]) doesn’t exist; it’s probably because there’s no character set defined in your config.php (I’m not sure when this was added or removed, but I have seen installs that didn’t include the dbcharset value in the config). The custom database should have been created anyway.

Bitte sag mir, wenn du noch Probleme (mit diesem Plugin) hast.

Re: ign_password_protect

lee – sorry, missed your post earlier. um, right now this can’t do what you’re looking for, but I could potentially be persuaded to build that functionality in down the road.

How can I persuade you then :)

Re: ign_password_protect

Is the “redirect an specific user to its related area” option available?

Re: ign_password_protect

lee / zensir – I’m in the planning stages now. there are some significant hurdles to overcome to make this work, and my time’s a bit overbooked at the moment, so no estimates on when this will be completed.
