Re: Plugin Requests
Mary,
I’ll take on the multi-lingual request. I might not end up writing all of it but I’ll try to co-ordinate what I can and deliver something that is useful to Marios.

Re: Plugin Requests
Very interesting steve – thanks for the run-down. I’ll see if I can give graeme’s plug-in a whirl this evening (CET) when I may have some more time to think your alternatives over in detail, and to look at the discussion in the textbook again.
My initial thought is, in order to be used in practice:
- It must be understandable for the user so admin area must be followable.
- You need to be able to use your sorting and filtering criteria (sections and categories). If the admin cannot achieve the site how they want to, it will not be used.
I suppose for all schemes that share some fields such as sections, categories etc. you’re going to run into a problem with the url-scheme. You might be able to get around the display of section and category names using a ‘translation table’ for categories and sections (i.e. a replacement for txp:section and txp:category with a language attribute) so that depending on language it displays “Rubrikname” in place of “Section-name” when language=German…
In the past I have simply made a site with twice as many sections and categories and prefixed them with a language-prefix e.g. en-section or de-section, then adapted one of the sectionmenu plug-ins to generate a list with only one language and to strip off the language prefix in the display. I wouldn’t call it a multilingual textpattern installation, though, it’s more like a double-width site with one half masked. For the user it is straightforward, (they choose language and section together – the section drop-down is just rather long) and the url’s are language specific like the articles although they begin en- rather than en/. I think that’s the only sacrifice but even that might be spoofable with the help of mod_rewrite.
BTW: I think Bastian’s version is only for his own site, and only been in implementation since the CSS Reboot in May.
Perhaps this language discussion has outgrown this thread, and we could continue it elsewhere…

Re: Plugin Requests
I’ve thought about this as well, @Mary, could you port us over somewhere at the I18N section ?
I think, this is just going to disturb the rest of the auction. Users not finding their pledges, with maniqui being probably the first victim.
I’ll be off for a couple of hours and catch up on this later
@jacob, great thoughts,
regards, marios

Re: Plugin Requests
I’m afraid PunBB won’t allow me to do that. I can only move entire threads, I can’t split threads/move individual posts.

Re: Plugin Requests
Mary
how about just creating the thread and then the individual authors paste their existing posts into new posts there and then delete from this thread? Might get a bit muddled up with the ordering though :(

Re: Plugin Requests
@steve, that’s a really nice summary of all the material. I’ll probably print this out together with all the other resources and put them in a file so I can rethink and read all that things over the weekend and make some notes.
(And set up the testing install)

Re: Plugin Requests
<blockquote>Do you mean restricting editing access to articles within a given section and not within any other sections? Or am I misinterpretting what you mean?</blockquote>
Yes, you think good.

Re: Plugin Requests
I’d like to reallocate my $50 pledge on the PayPal plugin to a 50€ pledge to the multilanguage publishing plugin. For me, the latter is far more important.
Besides, I’m a little confused now where things are going with the ecommerce plugin…there’s been no official claim for it, yet hints have been given by both wilshire (here) and TeamTextpattern (here) that each has it in their scope. A little more clarity would be helpful.

good choice,
any one else who would like to support this plugin ?
More funds are definitely needed.

Re: Plugin Requests
Hi. I’m developing a commercial web site by using Textpattern. The site needs an exclusive area for clients. This plugin ign_password_protect almost suits my needs; however, I need certain modifications that my few abilities in Php and My SQL don’t allow me to reach.
I would like to know if there is someone (with a Pay Pal account) that could do that and how much it would cost.
This is what I need: the ign_password_protect allows creating new users with their own login and password. I would need to add a drop down with the site’s sections in order to associate to each user one particular section of the site.
Thanks,
José

Re: Plugin Requests
Hi all,
this guy has made a cool request: the random comment plug-in request but it has been unnoticed, I think.
Mary, could it be added to the unclaimed plug-ins?
thanks.

Re: Plugin Requests
Also, FWIW, I’m the one who’s claimed the WP code display plugin.

Bump. It’s been a while since I last bumped the topic, so make sure you’re aware of the current list status. :)
