text rollover (resolved)

im knew at css so i dont know all the terms and all so i’ll try my best to explain

i have <div id="readmore"> on my site and i would like that text to have a rollover color on the link….. i have tried adding things like:

#readmore a:hover{
color:red;
}

but it doesnt seem to work…… can i get some help with this? css is a little bugger :(

It’s because your markup is screwy. :) You’ve got:

<txp:permlink><div id="readmore">Read the rest...</div></txp:permlink>

When you want something like:

<p class="read-more"><txp:permlink>Read the rest…</txp:permlink></p>

p.read-more a:hover {
color: red;
}

:)
