Photograpy tips

Hello folks! Tomorrow I’ve a wedding and they’ve asked me to be the photographer. I only have 2 small good digital camera’s, and I want to make some good photo’s. So…I was wondering if anyone knows a site with just little good tips for that. Of course I’am looking with google, but I though, maybe someone else already did and maybe you can tell me a good site :)

Thanks!

Regards,

Joey

Re: Photograpy tips

Maybe you should post here which cameras you have. There are a few photographers using txp who might be willing to give you a few tips.

If it’s sunny out, and their aren’t any strange shadows being cast, don’t use your cameras flash. You can sneak more photos in this way. You can get great natural looking candids. With digital cameras you can usually just take a ton of photos and filter down to the ones that turned out great as the day goes on, or if you have enough memory at the end of the day. Composing photos by dividing the frame by three usually works to give better looking pictures as well, though this isn’t a hard and fast rule.”

Re: Photograpy tips

On my old Fuji Finepix 6800 Z, there is the possibility to alter the ISO settings.
So what I would do are two are two things.
Visit the spot beforehand where the wedding takes place, at a time with the same lightning conditions, make some shots from most possible angles to adjust the manual settings,
if in manual mode and the ISO for both of them, take those home , open them in Photoshop and see the results.
If is gets dark, most problems are with under exposure (if without flash) and digital grain that need to be fixed
after in Photoshop. (Which can take a considerable amount on time with older photoshop versions, like I have, 7)
I’d recommend using Flash after it gets dark, even in lighted indoor conditions.
Don’t use a resolution that is only for web, so you can have prints as well
Make sure you have enough memory cards with you, so you can have an Idea of about how many photos would fit on your cards, with which resolution settings.Make sure also you have spare and loaded batteries with you , especially if you use the flash later at night, when it gets dark.

Take tons of pictures, especially if these people are important for you, so you have the chance later on to evaluate and filter all the material and only choose the best ones, even if you give them one year later.

I don’t know much either, but there are lots of very talented photographers on this forum

regards, marios

Re: Photograpy tips

Thanks ramanan and marios for your tips, great! I have three digital camera – certainly not the best -: Minolta Dimage X (2MP), Kodak DX4530 (5.0MP), Canon IXUS 3 (3MP). I think I’m going to use the Canon as much as possible, because it make great pictures and because its fast. The Kodak ofcourse does have 5 Megapixels, but the camera is very slow with saving, loading, and taking pics. By the way I think the Canon make photos with similar – or even better – quality than the Kodak.

Re: Photograpy tips

I think you’re right, the Canon looks like the better choice,

I forgot to mention, two more things:

Don’t drink any alcohol, so you know what you are doing.
And the last important, burn all the material on DVD when you come back home as a backup before you start opening them in other applications on your Computer.

regards
