Have article use a different page layout than default

I have been hacking away at the Hemingway template which is generally pretty great except that when I do a category specific selection, it will only display the two articles set up in the default page. What I want it to do is to use the Archive page instead which has a much different layout. Is there a way to have this happen or will I need to massively replicate the entire Archive page in a nested conditional in the default page?

Re: Have article use a different page layout than default

I’m afraid there will have to be some conditional work involved. Category pages use the default template and there is no way to assign it a different one at present.

Re: Have article use a different page layout than default

If I am willing to dive into the hard code and change the default behaviour, would anyone have a suggestion as to what needs be changed? I would rather the category acted like a search than the default behaviour.

Re: Have article use a different page layout than default

Well I figured out another way to get what I want, but what I meant was that it would use the search results page…
