Templates
Okay so I’ve sorted out that pages = templates.
I need a little guidance in order to write txp specific tags that retrieve articles based on categories in one template.
Is there somewhere that explains this that I’ve missed?
Thanks.

Re: Templates
When you’re looking at the “pages” page in admin, on the left hand side you have links into the tag builder. Click them and build tags.

Re: Templates
I think I’m rather confused about how to use these tags. Is there an if/else syntax?

Re: Templates
Have a look at TextBook (see links top of this forum page), start here. The Alphabetical Tag Listing is also very useful.

Re: Templates
It’s a little disorienting to let txp take over some of the jobs i’m so used to doing myself.
I’m guessing I’d need a page for each specific section, and each article would then be grabbed by the id.

Re: Templates
Uhh……yes. Textpattern is for automation at some/all levels.
Forms includes Pages templates
But there’s a caveat here. Sometimes, I customize a form and use it on only one page. I thought it would be more useful when I made it but it turned out not to be.
Or, a page does not have to be a template. Sometimes the page can be so ultra specific that it should only be served when clicking a particular menu item (or going to the homepage). For instance, if I want a sub-section of my personal site to be my blog and want the main page of the site to be a particular design with a contact form (or something).
