Pull Data form 2 sections into one page + Beginner's tutorial?

Hi all,
I am new to textpattern and am thinkting about designing a site for a client with it. As I understood from the documentation, every section has one page template ‘connected to it’. This makes me wonder about the following: Is it possible to pull data from 2 different sections (database tables?) into one page? How?
(Furthermore, is there some kind of practical beginners tutorial around because I still do not think that I fully grasped the concept of sections, page templates, forms etc.?)
Thansk a lot already,

You can display articles from another section with txp:article_custom.
Also, you don’t have to give every section it’s own page. You can use the txp:article tag, which is context sensitive, meaning that it will only display articles from the section/category that is requested. Or display section specific content with txp:if_section.

But better start reading here, and don’t forget to follow the links to other articles mentioned there.
