What happened to the roadmap?
If I go to this old link , I’m greeted with a big ol, “access denied” error message. What’s up with that?

There isn’t one (a roadmap), it’s empty. Hence, no link to it. Why you specifically get an “access denied” message, I couldn’t say.

I don’t think the trac roadmap was ever really official in any way. Maybe they just got rid of it to avoid confusion.

It wasn’t even inofficial, in fact I don’t remember ever reading or writing something on that page. On the contrary I remember discussions about the fact that there is no roadmap, extending well back even before there ever was a TRAC installation (and after that, too).
Given that one TRAC instalation looks (almost) exactly like any other, my guess is that you are confusing it with another Opensource-project.

There was — for a short while — a roadmap that existed after 1.0RC2, but it was not officially maintained and served to only cause confusion and endless debates. Thus, it was retired.

What you are linking to is the timeline which is still available: It’s a list of the checkins to the repo. TRAC was also shortly used as an issue/bug-tracker I remember that (in case you are referring to the little notices on some of the checkins).
Can’t remeber there was ever a raodmap in the roadmap sense, though.
