An couple of How to's

Hello.

I have modified TXP and the result is lovely, yet there is one minor complication in my code, or actually it could be described as a problem in TXP.

The problem: If i write a very long word that extends the width of the article section, it will cross over the div and continue across the website. Is there someway that I can solve this so that it will break up when meating the maximum width and continue on the line under it? And note: I know how to do this in form of setting an vertical scroll with CSS, but that is in my opinion not a good solution from a designers aspect.

Hope there is somebody out there that could help me with this problem ASAP.

Best regards,
Birk Nilson

Re: An couple of How to's

Could you please post your code (template and CSS), please?

And also, have you tried changing browsers to see if that helped at all?

That’s gotta be some word… or a very short width…

Re: An couple of How to's

No the width is approx. 400px so there is room for at least 10 normal words in one line. The problem however is that the company that I am doing this for has a lot of visitors per day. That’s not a problem by itself, but their site can attract people who would like to make them look bad. Therefore I am trying to find every single “screw-with-the-website-issues” that I can find. To is is good that I have only found one so far :) But even if the possibility to do this type of sabotage exists, it does not mean that this minor problem will become an issue for the company. Also if it does they have the possibility to remove it easily, yet I would like the problem to vanish totally. But when I thought about it last night I realized that in worst case scenario this would happen perhaps one time in a thousand, if even that. So I will fix it with an CSS-scroll, so that it will not damage the design untill an admin can delete the comment.

…if a the width of a long word is more the width of 400px, css styles sheets can’t <strong>cut</strong> the content : that’s why your div take out the browser’s window.

Only one solution : you must cut your (very) long words like this :
<code>
ThisWordIsTheMostLongerOfThe – WorldIhaveSeenBeforeTodayOooops!!!
</code>

My CSS is rusty, but couldn’t the <code>overflow</code> property resolve this?
