Yes, in a similar fashion would be great. Just upload the schemes you want to have for yourself or for your client’s install. This way we can easily customize the admin to mimic the front end color scheme. Also new styles at TextGarden could also offer admin flavored schemes bundled with the download.

On a side note, in PunBB if you don’t want a color scheme to be displayed in the drop down, just rename the css file to another extension, like Oxygen.css to Oxygen.txt.

Well, theme switching is very popular for people. personally i don´t need theme switching as long as main theme is not rubyred :) however themeswitching would be a great marketing effect for TXP.

btw. i never liked font Times New Roman in TXP´s backend – can´t we get rid of it for ever?

Ace of Dubs (and everyone else who has taken an interest in this issue)

I guess we stand before two main problems here:
1. The admin gui needs a redesign visually
2. It also needs recoding to fit web standards

The obvious approach would be to split the project into two groups each dealing with a specific task:
A design team
and
A code team

Let’s say that each team has 2 developers and 1 project leader.
The amount of effort each member would have to provide is less staggering than doing it all by yourself.

This would speed up the process as well as providing a stable core code.

So, are there any volunteers?

Hi! I don’t know if this has already been commented on, but I just wanted to add – this is about a client-only section, not something for the general public. If CSS and Javascript means the interface is more efficient, usable and accessibile than I think the client won’t balk at upgrading their free browser.

That being said, here’s one example of current browser stats. (Anything hovering around 1% probably shouldn’t be used to base design/technical considerations on…)

One for the forum admins re browsers – what are the browser stats for the forum and/or the main txp site? Those would give a good indication of design needs.

Just an FYI, but I am already starting to code some of this. For me the funnest part of the design is building the structure upon which it hangs. You guys are more than welcome to throw your hats in the ring. There is still some work to do on the design though. I want to use as few images as possible so making your own custom themes will be a simple matter of changing hex values.

And to my fellow standardistas, dont fret… you are in good hands. My plan is to keep all styling external and get the html spanking clean for easy tweakage, and of course wider accessibility. I will also do my best not to use un-necessary divs and keep my CSS hack-free. Wish me luck
