WP Database Import -- Size Limit?

A quick TXP newbie question, as I’ve run into a slight problem upon trying to import my existing Wordpress database (2.0.x) into TXP. More specifically, when using the admin import option/function, I get an error about 4/5 of the way through the import. IOW, only 400 of my 500 postings got imported, and the 100 that didn’t make it through are the most recent 100 posts.

I’m pretty sure that I’ve searched through all the relevant FAQs & the TextBook, and I didn’t come across anything that dealt with this kind of import questions/problem/issue.

Any ideas?

About all that’s gleanable from it is that it looks to be a timeout or timeout-related error. There is no error code associated with it (or, if there is, it isn’t being reported…).

I can also confirm now that the comments were/are effected the same way as the posts — i.e., cut off at about the same date/time (about 6 weeks ago…).

Also odd, but perhaps related, is that the comments seem to be tripled-up – i.e., 1 comment properly associated with a posting, with 2 other identical comments associated with an “article deleted” status. There is no such “tripling-up” in the source/WP db.

Okay, yep that’s a timeout problem, which can happen if you’ve got large WP data to import. Try Sencer’s instructions.

The tripling: have you tried to import more than once? That would be why. Make sure to empty the “textpattern” and “txp_discuss” tables before trying again.

Now that I know I can easily & successfully port all of my content into TXP, I’m feeling a lot more confident & comfortable with the prospect of converting from WP to TXP…
