Admin Facelift. Take 3

I really like the direction you guys are headed with the new look. My only critiques are that they are a little vertically heavy…I like how streamlined the current version is. Also there is not much of a color/contrast relationship between parent and children tabs.

Here’s my take on it..

Just a rough for now….what u guys think?

Re: Admin Facelift. Take 3

smart… i like your idea (though yellow-black combination is not my taste) the top nav bar is much lighter now and that looks pretty

I actually like that one best of the versions I’ve seen so far.

Re: Admin Facelift. Take 3

Glad you guys are feelin it.

@ alexandra,

You are right about the colors…aside from taste, they dont fit the current corporate identity of Txp, which is more gold/yellow and white. So I made another version…

I dunno if the current admin will allow javascript, but I like the idea of dropdown navigation.
If this design gets enough votes, I will go ahead and code up the CSS / JS to make it functional.

Ace of Dubs,
the only thing I might change in the most recent presentation is allowing your black outlines to be toned down to #666 grey or something similar? I think makes for a less hectic tab and layer? What say you?

ace of dubs,
to be honest I miss the contrast of the lettering.
it feels oversaturated in orange now?

imo.

Re: Admin Facelift. Take 3

I’m assuming the original will still be available on the upgrade? I like the dropdown menus but . . . I like the rounded corners and the lightness of the original. Call me torn.

Re: Admin Facelift. Take 3

Now this looks good. Smart, classy, and it looks like a natural progression form the current interface – which is something I felt was missing from the mock ups in the other proposed redesign threads.

Re: Admin Facelift. Take 3

Great work, Ace! I am very fond of the mockups in posting #6 above. Though i agree with Matthew: I miss the contrast of the lettering. the orange-brown color is very strong on my sceen. As well i doubt the orange-brown fits to the red which is used for the buttons within txp.
The last mock up in postin #9 looks nice too but a bit trist/grey compared to #6.

However, nice work. I am very curious what other txp´ners say :)

Re: Admin Facelift. Take 3

Thanks for the honest feedback yall…

I think the key to getting this design to work across the board is to keep things fairly light. The more I look at this forum and the TXP home page, the less color I want to put into this. Here is yet another take.

Feel free to rip it apart! :)

Re: Admin Facelift. Take 3

Holy crap! I love it!

One note, though, those DDLs that act as categories won’t be able to work like that. And your dropdown menu would need to use javascript probably, if we wanted to support IE.

Otherwise, I love it. Compact, efficient.

My only problem is with those items called “forms” I mean, I understand how to use them, but couldn’t we come up with a better term for the tab?

Re: Admin Facelift. Take 3

I like the new design, can we have an admin panel config screen where users can pick their colors?

About adding javascript to the admin area, have you seen the Yahoo! UI Library ?
