TXP setup not recognizing config.php
I copied and pasted the text and saved the file in the appropriate directory, but the installer does nothing when I hit the “I did it” button. Is this a common glitch?
PS – a strange quirk as well…I notice when I save the config.php file from TextMate (UTF8format), it shows up on my desktop as config.php.default. I tried changing the name to “config.php” but the installer still wont recognise the file.

Re: TXP setup not recognizing config.php
Trying multiple times and the strange part is that TXP connects to my database fine…just refuses to see my config file.
I have installed TXP into a subdirectory, if that makes any difference…

Re: TXP setup not recognizing config.php
Just found this thread
http://forum.textpattern.com/viewtopic.php?pid=112468
does anyone find the search function on this forum to be a bit loopy? I found the above thread by Googling interestingly enough.
I will post my experiences in that thread so as to consolidate info. Feel free to delete this, mods

Re: TXP setup not recognizing config.php
Your problem is not the same as the one in that thread, but even if it was, keep replies here, no point in confusing things by adding onto an old discussion.
Okay, so you renamed the file to config.php, pasted in the contents and saved…?

Re: TXP setup not recognizing config.php
Please elaborate on “does nothing” – no response? Blank page? Times out? Redisplays the same page?

Re: TXP setup not recognizing config.php
Here is where I am right now….
Saved the pasted text into config.php
Went to upload via FTP and noticed my client app listed my files as config.php.dehault
Figured this was ok and continued with setup, hit the “I did it” button
The page reloads and is the same, except it is missing the message at the top:
Checking database connection…
Connected
Using database_name (utf8)
So I deleted the file and repeated the process, this time dropping the .default, and that has not worked.
Each time I hit the “I did it” button, the page reloads and keeps asking me to make the config file. Very strange

Re: TXP setup not recognizing config.php
If there’s no error message, this means the config.php file was not found. Most likely you’re uploading it to the wrong location. It should be named config.php
(no ‘.default’), contain exactly the same content provided by the setup page, and be placed in the ‘textpattern’ subdirectory (the same directory as ‘license.txt’).

Re: TXP setup not recognizing config.php
It works!
I just started from scratch..
Deleted database and made new one, then added my user
put a fresh folder of TXP up
made sure there was no “.default” (I wonder why does TextMate save like this?)
and now I see that familiar yellow and white which I have grown to associate a warm, fuzzy feeling with. :)
Thanks for the assist guys. You truly are da bomb!
