[wiki] Moving from subdirectory update
I just moved a TXP installation from a subdirectory to the root following the instructions listed at Textbook. Everything went well except that the file upload path (Admin > Preferences > Advanced Preferences) did not change automatically. I’m not sure if this is something that I did wrong or if it is something that needs to be added to the instructions but I thought I would mention it.

It won’t change automatically, no. I’m not sure off-hand, but you may need to update your tmp file path as well.
Chances are those instructions do need to be updated.

I believe the temp directory updated itself (or I never made a change from its installation default). The only thing that got flagged when I checked the diagnostics after moving the site to the root was the file upload path. It’s not a big deal to me, I just didn’t know where to post corrections for the Textbook. Other than that the directions were spot on and totally accurate.

I’m just about to move another site I’m working on and I’ll check to make sure the same thing happens with this one. Once I’ve verified that is was more than just a mistake on my part I’ll update the Textbook entry. I must confess that I’m a totall rookie when it comes to working with a wiki. I read the procedures but I want to make sure I don’t go rogue editor on anything!

No worries, if a sentence is incorrect, fix it. If you’re not sure, flag it in the pages “discussion” page and/or let someone here know.
Never do nothing at all for fear of doing it wrong. If there is any one thing a wiki is good for, it’s changing, rechanging, and changing back again if needed. ;)

Splendid. I’m glad there is a way to give back a little to the TXP community. As soon as I verify the additional step I’ll add it to the entry.
