DarkStar Promotions Ltd.

No gigs set up yet so a bit lacking in content but I think you will get the general idea. :)

Re: DarkStar Promotions Ltd.

That is good looking! Is it stricly UK bands, or are promotions considered, or done, for U.S. bands as well? I don’t know a lot about this manner of thing, but I do have some old friends starting new adventures that could use some exposure and experience with online music.

Re: DarkStar Promotions Ltd.

Stu,
Well done. I’m real curious about your work with zen-cart? How do you find it compared to others?
Was it fairly customizeable? What merchant did you set up? Etc.

Long time no talkey,
Hope yer well,

Matthew

Re: DarkStar Promotions Ltd.

As far as overseas bands are concerned, initially it will be a case of fitting in with existing band schedules as bringing someone over specifically for a gig is going to be too expensive methinks and we aren’t talking about a large venue here, probably around 1200. Having said that we currently have our eye on a new Australian band, Wolf Mother, but they do happen to be in Europe anyway. Things will grow though and other venues will be used. There are plans afoot for a 2/3 day open-air event in 2008 which would include some headline bands. Roll on! :)

As it was the first time I had used Zen Cart my main problem was getting my head around the admin as quickly as possible, but the styling side wasn’t too bad. It’s all templates so really just a case of finding the right one. You can also keep your modified templates in a separate folder as a “darkstar” style so you can switch back to the default or have several styles that can be switched with a single click in admin.

We haven’t set up a merchant yet as we didn’t want the possibility of someone playing silly buggers whilst there was no product to purchase. We will certainly have PayPal and a couple of credit cards such as Visa and MasterCard which are built-in to Zen Cart but I shan’t set that up until around the end of July ready for a “Grand Opening Bash” sometime in September. I’ll let you know then. :)

Nice code etc. but I think it’s a little unproffessional. :)

A little harsh, jimpoep (that’s one f in unprofessional). It’s very dark and star-like and I’m sure will be considered absolutely ripping by beat-combo fans everywhere. Well done, Stuart.

@jimpoep – I won’t agree or disagree with you. The point is that it is exactly what the client wants and at the end of the day they are paying the bills so I go with the flow. :)

And yes, it does follow a certain trend with these types of sites.

I don’t mean to prod, but this design seems some what reminiscent of Marco’s textplates. May just be coincidence, but it does remind me of them. Sorry to distract, I actually do like the way the blue looks against the black. Good work, barring the introduction of more content.

Re: DarkStar Promotions Ltd.

Coincidence it would be. No disrespect to Marco, but I only trust my own code. :)
