XMLRPC contacting Textpattern.com?

I’ve just set up a new textpattern testing site (hosted locally on my PC using IIS) and when I went to publish an article, my firewall immediately notified me that PHP-CGI.exe was trying to contact textpattern.com on port 80. Looking into it a little further, it looks like it’s a function of xml-rpc. Any idea why this is necessary? Is textpattern collecting stats on everyone’s installation or something? Where can I hack the php to disable this?

You can “hack to disable” it by going to advanced preferences and disabling the preference for pings to textpattern.com.

Thanks for the tip. “Hack” was a bad word choice, I know. :-)
