Re: [contrib] support for core and plugin developers

I like Mary’s idea, because it is simple, and seems to represent the least amount of work/maintenance. Therefore it seems like it’s the most likely to happen.

Destry> Oddly enough I already use TXPr regularly because I can usually find the plugin’s I’m looking for a lot quicker than I can on this forum.

By the way…
I appreciate everyone’s work on Textpattern and plugins, because I really enjoy using TXP to build sites. When there are gaps in functionality, however, it’d be great to have a way to get those features/fixes, without begging and waiting. And because I don’t feel entitled to other peoples time and resources, I’m willing to pay for solutions where necessary.

Re: [contrib] support for core and plugin developers

Regarding Textpattern Resources, I understand fully the frustration. The site needs to be upgraded and cleaned of spam, and so on.

I’ve talked with Alicson about it, and she expressed that she really wants to get it going, but can’t possibly put in the time just now. She was indefinite, which I would take to mean she doesn’t really know when she can either. I want to tread carefully, because of course, we all appreciate all the work she, and recently, Rob, have already put into that project, and no one wants to “steal” it away, so to speak. What I would suggest is that anyone interested in assisting her, send her an email and offer to help her get things moving along.

I’ll go ahead and create that sticky thread now, and we’ll see how things go. If it becomes unworkable then we can come back and try and think of a different solution? :)

Edit: here it is. Any existing requests you know of, please post them there, as I really don’t know what they all are, if they exist.

Re: [contrib] support for core and plugin developers

All,

I see mrdale posted a request for an anonymous user upload plugin already. Just a general point: as this is a true international forum, could we specify a currency for all offers please? Perhaps we should standardise on one? So, is that US$20 or AU$20 or Sing$20?

Mary

On the new thread you wrote…

Make your request here.

So, should bids for the bounties be posted to the new sticky thread too?

Sure, that’s fine. I’ll make note of that in the post.

I would consider these amounts as a pledge of good faith, rather than a set-in-stone-to-be-taken-absolutely-literally kind of thing. That could be determined later, via, say a Plugin Ransom because that way the money is all there up-front and being kept track of.

Yes indeed. :)

Mary

Just an idea as a helper for people using the PunBB topic subscription, could you post a reply on the new sticky thread when you assign a plugin author to a plugin request then we’ll get a bump via email. Otherwise the authors might miss when you assign them to a project, or at least, they won’t have to keep watching the head post for edits.

Hello Bert,

have you had a chance to play with ChipIn yet? If so could you share some thoughts?

Re: [contrib] support for core and plugin developers

Hi Steve,

I haven’t tried ChipIn yet, it’s on my todo list, which keeps getting longer be the day ;)

Whenever I take it for a spin, I’ll give my impressions here.
