TP 4.0.3 - 405 error message on comments preview
Hello,
After having studied many threads on the ‘comments don’t work’ problem for days I’m bone-tired and honestly wish somebody will help.
The problem shows as follows:
1. Browsing to any section the url looks like: /?s=section
2. Clicking “Comment” the URL changes to: /index.php?id=1#Kommentar
3. I now write my comment and click the “Preview” button and the URL changes to: /index.php?id=1#cpreview
This is where it goes off track. The URL is still the same: /index.php?id=1#cpreview, but I get the HTTP 405 error: Resource not valid. Page cannot be displayed because of a wrong address. (Free translation Ger —> Eng.)
I’ve already checked the file publish.php – it is the correct one and I do use the default comments form.
Everything else works fine, but the same message appears when I try to submit the zem_contact form.
So I’d be very grateful for any advice,
Ellen

Re: TP 4.0.3 - 405 error message on comments preview
I don’t think this is Textpattern related. Probably some configuration issue with IIS:
http://www.google.com/search?q=php+IIS+405+%22method+not+allowed%22
I get the 405 error on your page whenever I try to POST to a PHP page, so it’s likely this is a general PHP problem, not a comments or textpattern related thing.
Since I don’t have IIS, I am afraid I cant be of any more specific help. If you find a solution, do let us know, though.

Re: TP 4.0.3 - 405 error message on comments preview
Thanks a lot for your prompt reply. Following your hint, I took a look at: http://www.somacon.com/p126.php. They describe how to change the IIS server settings under Win XP/2000 to accept the POST and HEAD method as well, but apparently it will only work with a Win XP Professional Edition (tried out). So I presented the problem to my provider again who says the server is set to accept all 3 methods (!!!), but he is on to find the mistake. I’ll let you know as soon as I know sth. conclusive.

ISP says server in running in the safe mode. Has this perhaps sth. to do with it?

The problem is with your server configuration, not Textpattern. Nothing we can do about it, I’m afraid. You’ll need to work it out with your hosting company, or find help on an IIS or PHP forum.
