Problems installing TxP on new server
I have never had any problems before, but now I try to install TxP 4.0.3 on a new server and the only thing I got is a 404 instead of index.php…
( I have also installed 4.0.3 on my old server, to check, and it works fine there.)
On the new server:
When uploading the TxP files I get an error when uploading the folders named “\” in files and textpattern-> tmp. Cannot write the file.
And then when the setup is done (all looks fine), I can acess the admin area and look at demo article and such, but when looking at the site: It does not find the index.php page, but gives me a 404!
The server is Linux, with Apache 1.3.34 (Unix), PHP version 4.4.1 and MySQL version 4.0.25-standard.
Can someone PLEASE help me and find out what is wrong?! :-/

There are no folders or files named “\” in the Textpattern install zip.
Download a fresh copy, and make sure you’re uploading everything to your server. Complete install instructions are at Textbook, linked at the top of every forum page.

Aha! You are right, in the zip-file there are no such folder! But in the tar-version there is… Funny – I ususally download gzip/tar-version, and they don’t contain such folders.
But. Unfortionally this did not solv my problem.
I reinstalled with the newest zip-version.
Still gives me a 404 … :-(

Re: Problems installing TxP on new server
Some additonal info that might be of importance?
This server has a “C-panel” with all the features listed.
In the MySQL-section I create the database for TxP, and a user.
As soon as this is done I get this message:
Connection Strings
Perl $dbh = DBI->connect(“DBI:mysql:MY_db:localhost”,“MY_login”,”<PASSWORD HERE>”);
PHP $dbh=mysql_connect (“localhost”, “MY_login”, “<PASSWORD HERE>”) or die (‘I cannot connect to the database because: ‘ . mysql_error());
mysql_select_db (“MY_db”);
where MY_xx is the values I have set.
Is this of any relevance to me at all? Is this some kind of info that I should use to get TxP going? If so, how?
What else can have gone wrong?

Re: Problems installing TxP on new server
Alex: I just checked the gzip file, and I see that there are those two folders. In my zip program they appear to be nameless (rather than “/”). Weird.
carachi: Please post your diagnostics tab results.
