Strange Requests <ip>:25

Hi not sure if this is in the correct forum, but I installed TextPattern a few days ago and now I am getting strange requests;

This is in the logs area of the admin tab;

5/8 10:41 pm 211-74-10-137.adsl.dynamic.seed.net.tw 10.200.181.194:25

And this is my latest visitors pulled from the apache log;

Host: 211.74.10.137

210.200.181.193:25 Http Code: 200 Date: May 08 22:41:09 Http Version: HTTP/1.0 Size in Bytes: 5945 Referer: - Agent: - | | |

210.200.181.194:25 Http Code: 200 Date: May 08 22:41:10 Http Version: HTTP/1.0 Size in Bytes: 5946 Referer: - Agent: -

Anyone know what this is? Not sure if it is a security problem or something similar? Seems like some kind of Bot?

Thanks

Sorry if its posted in the wrong area

Re: Strange Requests <ip>:25

Port 25 is used by SMTP for sending/receiving e-mail. Looks like someone looking for a mail server.

Re: Strange Requests <ip>:25

I don’t believe this is a Textpattern security issue as such, it looks like they’re port scanning (which can be done regardless of cms you’re using or not using).

Re: Strange Requests <ip>:25

Thanks for the response.

Well I am not sure about the port scanning bit, it just seems they are requesting /textpattern/<ip>:25 on the server, so I’m not sure what they are trying to do?

Thanks again

Re: Strange Requests <ip>:25

Looks like a buggy spambot to me. That’s not uncommon. Many people who write bots simply don’t know what they’re doing.
