Modifying the permalink structure a bit..

Currently it is set to /section/id/title which is <i>almost</i> what I want.

I’d like to set it to /section/category/id/title if at all possible. Can you do this? If so, where do I edit it?

Forgive my ignorance. -Sootah

TXP does not support that URL scheme out of the box; sgb_url_handler should be able to make it work.

Re: Modifying the permalink structure a bit..

I downloaded the http://mighthitgold.net/swap/sgb_url_handler-0.1.8.4.txt file, bit it all looks like gibberish when opened. Is this normal?

If so, do I just copy/paste the contents of it into the plugin page box and hit upload?

Hmm.. I just noticed that you can’t change the style for specific categories. Perhaps I’ll just use the Sections as the categories.

Yes and yes.

Yes, you can, it’s just not automatic like for sections, that’s all. You’d create your stylesheet, then put something like the following in the head of your page:

<txp:if_category name="apples">

	<!-- you're looking at a category list page -->
	<!-- specifically, the "apples" category -->

	<txp:css n="my_apples_category_style_name" />

</txp:if_category>

Re: Modifying the permalink structure a bit..

Figured out the plugin bit.

I really like TP so far, my only qualm is that the documentation is a bit lacking in certian areas. I figured “how do I install a plugin?” would be in the FAQ. (Copy/Pasting a bunch of gibberish into the plugin panel seemed odd. Maybe it’s just me)

From http://textpattern.net/wiki/index.php?title=Intermediate_Weblog_Model#Adding_Plugins_to_Your_Textpattern_Installation :
<b> Plugin Installation </b>

Once obtained, log in to your admin area and click on admin > plugins. From here there is two ways of installing a plugin.

The recommended way is to first open up your saved plugin in a text editor such as notepad. Inside you will find a bunch of gibberish, it’s okay! Copy all of the text (Ctrl+A, Ctrl+C in notepad for Windows) and then return to Textpattern’s admin interface. In the larger box that has “install plugin” beside it paste the copied text (Ctrl+V on Windows). Then press Upload.

Alternative
The old way is to save the plugin as a text file, then click on browse beside the Old-style plugin installer. Locate the file on your computer through browse and then click upload.

Once upload is clicked a preview of the plugins code will be displayed, if everything looks fine then click install.

Re: Modifying the permalink structure a bit..

Wheeeee….. The learning curve is a bit steep, but I like the flexibility.

Anyhow: Now that sgb_url_handler is installed and active, how do I modify the permalink structure itself? I’d just like to add my custom bit as another option.

With the plugin installed the path /articles/category/article-name does work, it pulls up the article fine. I just need now to make the permalink structure reflect that.
