admin article sorting by author
Hello all,
I am trying to figure out why once a list of articles (in the admin section) has been restricted to a specific author (by doing a search as it seems sorting by author is not an option), using the sort links returns to the full article list. It seems that an author would want to be able to edit and sort their own content (or sort the search results) without having to deal with an enormous list of atrticles by all authors. Am I missing something? Is there a plugin that will allow articles in the admin section to be more easliy limited to a single author. I have a large number of authors in a project I am starting to work on and want to find a way for them to easily deal with only their content. They will have no need to edit articles by any other user. Any help would be great.

Hmm. The sort links don’t pass the search query through. I’d assume this is a bug.

A patch which resolves this issue has been submitted to txp-dev

Re: admin article sorting by author
Thats good to hear. Will it be available prior to the next release? What would be great to see as well would be users with “staff writer” permissions be only presented with a list of articles they have authored. As they have the limitaion of only being able edit what they write, it seems that there is no need for them to interact with the other users articles. It seems that only the edit button is removed from the articles which they have not authored as it is still presented in a textfield/textarea. Maybe this is not a good decision for all textpattern users but it would be nice in my case.

I don’t know. There is no formal patch review process for TXP, so it’s entirely up to the development team.

Re: admin article sorting by author
I temporarily solved the problem by editing txp_list to limit the articles listed in the admin article tab to only those written by a given author if I set the permissions to “staff writer”. The sort then works properly with the modified list. Thought I would update the thread with my progress.
