[contrib] Who's in charge of what?

We’ve talked in the past about creating a chart of who does what in Textpattern.

What would be really helpful would be a list of who is in charge of what sites in the TXP world.

Maybe this list can be added to the wiki?

Thanks.

Well, there’s the TXP Subway Map.

I know about the Subway map, but it’s missing the conductors on every stop ;)

couldn’t have said it better myself. . .

Edit: or rather I would say maybe there are conductors (Destry, Mary, Zem) but there is no orchestra . . . there are mini-kingdoms and no community . . .

I know about the Subway map

That is being specifically done to answer your questions. If you feel there is something missing that should be added, I suggest you get involved. I am sure specific questions will be answered.

but there is no orchestra

The complete TXP-world is not a hierarchical monarchy, that’s true. It’s usually difficult making other people do what you want, when everbody is volunteering, but we’ve had this discussion elsewhere.

. . . there are mini-kingdoms and no community . . .

I strongly disagree with “no comunity”. If textpattern doesn’t have a comunity, then you have a very particular definition of community. As for “mini-kingdoms”, yeah, if you see your neighbours that are living in their own homes next door to each other and communicating and helping each other, also as “mini-kingdoms” rather than a community, because they are in charge of their own homes.

Re: [contrib] Who's in charge of what?

What I was looking for was who’s in charge of or works on:

  • Textpattern.com
  • Developer Weblog
  • Frequently Asked Questions
  • TextBook
  • Textpattern Resources
  • TextGarden
  • TXP Magazine
  • Mailing Lists

So if we have a question, a style, a plugin, a contribution, a ‘I want to help’, etc.

Really simple, I don’t need a Gantt chart :)

Re: [contrib] Who's in charge of what?

What I was looking for was who’s in charge of or works on:

  • Textpattern.com: Dean, other developers.
  • Developer Weblog: developers.
  • Frequently Asked Questions: developers, usually Alex and Sencer.
  • TextBook: Destry.
  • Textpattern Resources: Alicson.
  • TextGarden: Stuart.
  • TXP Magazine: Alexandra.
  • Mailing Lists: Dean.

TextBook, Textpattern Resources, TextGarden and TXP Magazine are not “overseen” by any of the developers, if that’s what you’re wondering. They were/are originally individual efforts that were provided with “official” webhosting.

. . . rather than no community I might have said: little centripetal force within the community. Centrifugal force, on the other hand, is great for birthing galaxies but isn’t the sort of activity that calls to my mind the word, community.

Re: [contrib] Who's in charge of what?

TextBook: Destry.

If Destry had his way, TextBook would be managed by a group of international language editor representatives rather than just himself, but apparently that’s private corporation talk, not open community collaboration. Go figure.

Oh, by the way, sorry for not being on the subway thing lately…just don’t have the time.
