Bold log entries, but no comments posted

I’ve seen several log entries that look like the following:

Section/id/title#cpreview

but don’t result in a comment.

Are these comment spam attempts? If so, then the mandatory preview is doing its job nicely.

Yeah, if someone previews their comment, that’s what shows up. Perhaps the people retract their comments for some reason or another.

No, when someone previews their comment, the url is shown as bold in the logs (indicating a POST), but you won’t get the anchor in the url (the #cpreview part). A User-agent (i.. browser etc.) is supposed to use the anchor only locally, it doesn’t send it in the HTTP-Request.

Seeing that in the url is actually an indication of badly written bot. But pssst, don’t tell them. ;)

yeah it’s spammers. I get them too, all day long on one single article.
