wes meltzer.com
Hi, everybody.
I’m Wes Meltzer, and I’m a print designer — and graduating soon and entering the workforce. (Hint to potential employers: You really want to hire me!) From what my advisor tells me, these days you really have to have your clips and resume all online if you want anyone to give you a second look. Nobody wants a xeroxed packet anymore.
So I’d kept a News Page Designer portfolio, but for technical reasons it had gotten difficult to maintain. I’d used Textpattern for a bunch of other projects, so I thought, I like it, why not? I bought the domain, and ran with it.
The portfolio image previews use Lightbox.JS, and thanks to hak_article_image I can associate multiple images with each individual article. The article is an explanation of the design, the sort of information that interviewers like to ask.
These days, I’m slowly migrating my blog from my very, very dated Movable Type installation elsewhere to this domain, as well. But it’s hardly done yet.

Very exciting! I´m currently doing my first newspaper redesign myself and like to read as much as possible about the subject. Also a nice crafted site!

I’ve done a lot of newspaper creation and redesign projects now, so if you have any questions or there’s something you want to see, I have a pretty good collection of research on the topic. Also, I save PDFs, images and print copies of lots of other newspapers’ pages, if you want reference art or anything like that. Just shoot me an e-mail, or whatever.
