Confused on txpath
I’m a bit of a textpattern newbie, so I apologize in advance if this question is beneath y’all.
I’m trying to use textpattern with a host (GoDaddy, unfortunately) and there are two related (I think) issues.
The first is that I don’t understand what the txpath variable should be. The “default” setting upon installing textpattern was: d:\hosting\blahblahblah, but I don’t even have a D:\ drive, so I don’t know where the value came from in the first place.
The second is that in the diagnostics tab, $path_to_site, txp_path, and document_root are all pointing to d:\hosting\…. Even if I knew where they SHOULD point, where are those changed?
Any insights would be most appreciated.

Re: Confused on txpath
What exactly is the problem that you’re having that you’re trying to fix?
The D:\ has nothing to do with your computer, but with the computer (server) your site is hosted on.
Can you please post the results of your diagnostics tab? It’s important for us to see the values as they are, so we can tell you what they should be.

Re: Confused on txpath
Hi Mary,
The problem is/was that there is no content on the site. Empty, save for the doctype, meta, html, and body tags.
At this point, I’ve mucked with it pretty badly, so I’m not sure the diagnostic info is valid. I’ll need to rip everything out and reinstall I think.
Here’s the current preflight_check info:
dir_not_writable: /files ?
file_uploads_disabled ?
d:\hosting\cmj\textpattern\setup\ still_exists ?
If I’m understanding that correctly, it means that the whole d: mess is fine, and the problem is that the directory isn’t 777. How I go about making a directory I don’t own writable is a mystery which I’ll have to figure out.
Thanks!

Re: Confused on txpath
Don’t worry about those messages for the moment, they wouldn’t affect your textual content. The “setup” directory message tells you that you should delete the folder named “setup”, but again, that won’t affect your content display.
The fact that your html tags are showing up shows that what you’ve got is a template problem. Check out this FAQ entry and see if you can’t work it out. If you can’t, then you will need to post the contents of your page(s) so we can see what’s what. :)

It’s possible that Textpattern is not generating the content you’re seeing. Could be an index.html or similar file that’s displayed instead.
