Newbie - Having trouble transferring my site from subdirectory to root
Hi There,
I’ll be the first to admit this will probably be a very simple or/and stupid question, but I’m a little bit stumped?
Basically I’ve installed textpattern to a directory on my website (e.g http://www.website.com/textpatterntest) and completed all the configuration, etc.
Now I’ve finally reached the stage of wanting to launch my website, but how do I go about making this page accessible from my website root / as my homepage?
Any sort of advice would be most appreciated
Thanks

Re: Newbie - Having trouble transferring my site from subdirectory to root
Hi, could I ask if someone is able to point me in the right direction please?!
I’m trying to move my textpattern installation from a subdirectory to the root of my website as explained in the article mentioned previously. However, the homepage moves across ok, but all the links end up pointing to 404 pages. I’m sure there must be something simple I’m doing wrong – but I’ve done the procedure 3 times now and each time end up with the same conclusion!!!
If someone is able to help me with this it would be most appreciated.

Your .htaccess
looks like it’s empty. You can either switch to messy URLs or fix the .htaccess
file.

Re: Newbie - Having trouble transferring my site from subdirectory to root
Hi Kurt, thanks for the reply.
Looks like I’ve got things working now. The problem seemed to be me trying to copy all files across using my ftp program – for some reason it just never worked. I then used my host’s “file manager” from within the control panel and everything worked fine.
Sorry to ask about this (very frequently asked) simple question.
