BTW: the site is HTML 4.01 (TXP usually outputs valid XHTML). So: maybe they do some hard-coding or maybe they have hacked TXP to output HTML.

Thanks folks! I handled the TXP implementation. We didn’t need to hack or hard code anything— you will find some <code><hr /></code> and <code><br /></code> tags in there, which are actually valid HTML (I didn’t realize this either, but James our designer is an HTML purist and assured me it would be fine).

Or maybe they just placed <code><!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC “-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN” “http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd”></code> at the top of the document, eh.
