Cannot upload images
I have this message on my images page and I can’t upload an image.
Warning: cannot write to image directory
../images.
Please change file permissions to 777.
Where do I change the file permissions?

Re: Cannot upload images
Use your FTP client. Find the images directory. Usually setting permissions is in the right click menu.
(I’ll delete your other post…)

Re: Cannot upload images
Sorry, I can’t get it to work yet. I have changed the permissions on the image directory (at least I think so) and I am still getting the error. I am new at this.

Re: Cannot upload images
Sorry, I’ll try again ;) It’s also possible that you’ve specified the wrong image directory in Admin > preferences. If you go to Advanced preferences, what does it say for Image directory?

Re: Cannot upload images
I have gone to Admin > Preferences and don’t see anything about image or even Advanced preferences. Am I missing something?

Re: Cannot upload images
I am thinking that I should delete all of Textpattern and reload it. When I have tried to do that, I get errors and it won’t let me. I have probably screwed something up. Frustrating!!!!!

Re: Cannot upload images
Don’t get angry, it’s not going to help you ;) So, you can go to Admin, and when you go there you are in the ‘preferences’ tab. Right below the title ‘Site Preferences’ you can see a yellow link to ‘Advanced preferences’. Go there. The third line under ‘Admin’ says ‘Image directory’. If you can’t make it that far, there must indeed be something wrong.

Re: Cannot upload images
There is no link under Site Preferences. I believe that there is something wrong and as I have been working on this since 3:30 am and it is now 12:30 pm, I am quite frustrated. You can’t say I am not persistant!!! :) Would it work to just copy the folders over from the latest version of Textpattern? Also, as I am using Textdrive, I believe that the site root is under public_html. Should all of the files and folders reside in public_html? By the way, I really appreciate your help.

Re: Cannot upload images
Unless you already entered a lot of content, I’d say it would be best to empty your database, remove all files from the server, and do a fresh install. That way Txp will find the right paths etc. for config.php, in case there is something wrong there.
You should upload all files and folders to public_html exactly as you unpacked them (like here).

Re: Cannot upload images
I have deleted as much as I can but I get an error
Permission denied.
Error code: 3
Error message from server: Permission denied
Request code: 14
when I try to delete the old Textpattern folder or try to copy the new one over it. Any solutions?

Re: Cannot upload images
Sorry, this is where I have to give up :( I suggest you go the Textdrive forum for help, doesn’t look like a Textpattern problem to me.
