TXP Mag Shirt Design Contest (April 06)
Hi all, on and off the TXP community needs some money for events like the last template contest or to reward a programmer. So i set up a Spreadshirt Shop (Attention: this is right now only a dummy Spreadshirtshop for European users though the US Shop will look the same). First of all it is fun, second we hope to collect a couple of Dollars/Euros for the community.
To get some nice shirt designs together, TXP Mag announces a Shirt Design Contest.
Judges are the TXP community.
The winners (one for Plot Design, one for Digital Design) will receive a free t-shirt which can be chosen from the shop.
You can do designs for either Plot Printing or Digital Printing.
Please read the requirements carefully:
- up to 3 colors only, no shades
- vector based file (svg .cdr, .fh or .ai)
- original design should be not larger than 9 inches by 9 inches
- Texts must also be converted into curves!
- as many colors as you like including shades
- .jpg, .gif, .png, or .bmp file required
- Text does not render that well
- Resolution: 120 dpi
- maximum dimension of your design can not exceed 1500 × 1500 pixels
Examples Plot and Digital Printing
What should your graphic display?
Actually it is up to you!
TXP logo type is Sackers Gothic. If you do not have it, use the free Engravers Gothic BT derivate ttf
If you like to use the TXP logo download the txp_logo which is an EPS you can mostelikely open in any vector programm.
Publish your design
Let the community comment on your design by publishing a gif or jpg here.
Submission deadline:
Highnoon on April 30, 2006
Copyright
I do not own the copyright for the TXP Logo. So right now you can not buy a t-shirt with the logo but i will ask Dean Allen if we can use it for the communities cash raising. If you take part at the contest, you agree that the TXP Mags Spreadshirt shop has the right to sell t-shirts with your design. This is a requirement by spreadshirt.com.
Get inspired from great t-shirt designers:

@Alexandra: Great idea!
I made the following ‘design’: Code is Pottery. I just put a few things together and I’m happy with it.
Hopefully it will inspire TXP-members with more designing skills – and don’t forget talent :) – to do a great job!

Re: TXP Mag Shirt Design Contest (April 06)
Hi TNT, thanks for joining :)
Here an important note for all: if you use fonts, you have to change the font into paths!! It is a Plot Design then. Fonts are not looking nice as Digital Print.
TNTs example Code is Pottery will not really work for t-shirt print as the logo is a bitmap and the font should be paths. Either the design is all in paths (verctor for Plot Design) or it is a bitmap (jpg, gif, bmp..) then it is a digital print.
To get TNTs design printable the logo has to be redrawn and changed into paths (vector). I did already do that. Get the txp logo here. It is an EPS which you can open in any vector programm.

Re: TXP Mag Shirt Design Contest (April 06)
I have got an Illustrator-file, in which I created the ‘design’. If I understand you correctly, I have to use your EPS for the logo instead of the one I downloaded from textpattern.com? And then it can be used for t-shirt print?

@TNT
no you do not necessarily need to use my eps as long as the logo is a vector graphic. But: if it is a bitmap in Illustrator, it will not work.
The rule is: either everything is in vectors or it is a bitmap! No mixes.

Re: TXP Mag Shirt Design Contest (April 06)
Here are 2 Plot Designs i just made. Both can be printed as digital prints but look nicer as plots. When plots all shapes have to be curves.

Re: TXP Mag Shirt Design Contest (April 06)
wow, this thread made me stop lurking and register.
designers do remember there is a limited number of colours available in plot printing.
Must remember that deadline now..
