How do I view articles not on the main page?

Ok, when I put an article in a certain category so that it doesn’t show on the main page, I try going to the article’s URL. Well, it refuses to let me view. Here’s the link:

http://www.hatersonline.com/index.php?id=2

Even though I have an article for that, it doesn’t show anything. What can I do?

Re: How do I view articles not on the main page?

How do you have your sections set up?
How are your categories set up?
What sections and categories are assigned to the artilcle?

The url you provided is a url to a specific article not to a section or category page.

So how do links to sections work when I have it set up to be the index.php?id=x type?

I have my sections set up to be Photoshops, Forum Gold, Main Page articles, and categories I have another one called Photoshops and Gold. I’m not sure what to do.

Re: How do I view articles not on the main page?

Sections are presentational divisions.
Categories are content divisions.

Try this it’s a good place to start in understanding how textpattern fits together.

In brief though,

  1. Set up your sections
  2. Set up some categories
  3. Use an article tag on one of your pages.

The article tag is really nifty. It’s sensitive to category and section, so when you call a page on which it appears, with say, http://mysite/index.php?s=sectionOne it’ll display as many articles as you’ve specified in a list, that you’ve assigned sectionOne to.

Categories behave independently of and in conjunction with sections.

I know how sections are a navigational thing, but here’s a problem for example:

http://www.hatersonline.com/photoshops/

That “article” wasn’t put in the section for photoshops, it was put in articles, which is a main page one

Your default section, or the default page contains posts from all sections, unless you tell it not to. How are you calling the article form?

it looks like you’re running about three things under/alongside textpattern. Kinda hard to figure it all out.

I’m not exactly sure how to do this. What I want to do, is have a section for Photoshop articles, a section for Goldmine, and a section for Main articles. I want main articles to show up on the front page, but the others not, and I want to be able to link to those. I’m lost in what to do. I’m using another theme, also.
