Netfirms and clean urls

I have not been able to get clean urls to work on Netfirms. Does anyone know how to get it to work.

This gives me 404 errors:

#DirectoryIndex index.php index.html
#Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteBase /

RewriteRule ^(.*) index.php </IfModule>

#php_value register_globals 0

Other configurations I have tried give 500 errors.
