[wiki] Idea.

How-tos and examples placed into wiki.

What about placing a lot of the neat ideas that are located in this forum into the wiki? I’m willing to help out, but not sure how to go about starting it. And would be great if a lot of the original authors could do it, to help keep things explained properly.

Re: [wiki] Idea.

There is a lot of discussion going on at the moment, about a general overhawl of the wiki in general.
Tutorials and real world examples are missing at this point from the wiki.
They should be there though,
more complex setups like e-commerce projects or larger portfolio examples though, I believe will probably never be seen there, due to the huge amount of work that get’s put into those, and so why should they ?

Another problem, that has been addressed, was the whole information architecture of the wiki, which seemed to have diverted into the wrong direction somehow.

One thing that is hardly needed is a cross-linking feature to other TXP resources like Textsippts, forum topics, and plugin resources, but within each section though.

These things often happen in community driven Sites, where there is missing somehow a global scope or vision of the total result.
I would expect, that it is difficult at this moment to predict what turns out of the discussion on how these new sections could be integrated crosslinked and merged, so it makes allso sense as a total.

Many Users,Including myself are using Google rather instead of the wikis inherent navigation features, to find something.
Hopefully though Destry and all others that are working on the Wiki , will integrate those sections , in a way that anybody who has an account can contribute to it.
At the end, it is not really extra wasted time, since you allso learn more, when you train yourself for good documentation and giving that away for public use does consolidate your learning curve quite well.

Re: [wiki] Idea.

I think the txp wiki is one of the best setup I’ve seen. It could do with a little more information here and there.

I’d be more than willing to help out. I could post up my Store setup into it. And I’d be willing to transfer over info from the forums.

Re: [wiki] Idea.

Request a Textbook signon.

The original intent of the How to topic was tag example development and transfer to the Index itself, too constricting I think, so the move to something a bit more general was probably a good idea.
I’ve always felt that keeping the Tag Index and Cross Reference as simple as possible would make things easier to find. Tutorials and examples can be developed atop and linked to details as appropriate.
Such work is always welcome.

I moved this thread here to try to get a little more response for your suggestion.

Re: [wiki] Idea.

I have a wiki account, and contributed in the past.but I will not submit anything for some other unrelated reasons, but I will do so after summer, until then a general strategy probably has been sorted out for it’s general structure.
Recently unfortunately I suffered myself due to outdated information mostly related to setup questions on textdrive, this is something I’d probably like to correct in the meanwhile.
