Re: A photography portfolio (Rune Photography)

The fading effect adds a nice dash of style. I somehow miss a thumbnail gallery as simply browsing the portfolio leaves me with a lack of “overall impression” especially on the architecture section.

You didnt’ have the chance to attend a fashion shooting, I suppose ;-)

BTW: HTML Tidy says:

Line 35 char 42 – warning: <img> lacks “alt” attribute.

Re: A photography portfolio (Rune Photography)

Thanks guys, about the thumbnails I can say it was the clients choice. Can I ask you, do you find that it would have gived you just a better overview, or do you fint such a portfolio more impressive?

Re: A photography portfolio (Rune Photography)

I, suppose that a general overview is mostly gained from the frontpage, when you first visit the site, like one tiny thumb for each section linked to each section page.
The javascript fading allways makes sense in those cases, really nice photography allso.
What I have been missing , is a caption for each image (Or some little text with each image)

I allso like the simplicity concept of the site, which makes it probably easy to maintain and extend the site if needed.

regards, marios

Re: A photography portfolio (Rune Photography)

Very nice site!! Though i agree with marios on: I have been missing , is a caption for each image. I do not miss thumbs at all. An additional english text on the Editors page would be great.

I would suggest a contact page with a contact form as well. Since i added a contact form to some of my sites, i noticed people feel very encouraged to send an email. I was surprised as i prefer a simple email but seems as if the majority of internet users prefer contact forms.

Re: A photography portfolio (Rune Photography)

I like the design, but have to say I don’t like the fade effect. It’s like Flash….it was cool a few years ago, but today I think it just irritates people (me!). I think thumbnails would improve it also, for a similar reason: to help navigation. I don’t think people have the time, or patience, to appreciate the minimalist approach that makes them wait. It’s two different worlds: the world of the photographer unused to internet culture who thinks replicating a gallery or slideshow is cool, and then the internet veteran who understands useability and user requirements. Which one you want to emphasise depends on the context, and your objectives.
(Sorry not trying to be deliberately negative!)

I think it looks great. I would like a slightly larger nav button though; <previous next> is very small on my monitor.

Close to nothing shows in IE mac… (at least on v. 5.0) If you care about that.
