Wordpattern
For those who have not seen the announcement it seems as though Textpattern and Wordpress are going the way of Adobe and Macromedia.
Wow… This is big news — a big change
I’ve read the limited amount of information on the site twice over, and (whilst I do not want to start off on a negative tone) I’m a tad anixous. I guess my biggest concern is this bit of text:
WordPattern represents a revolution in weblog technology, a paradigm shift for the emerging army of citizen journalists, diarists and technologists known as bloggers.
(Bloggers being the word I objected too)
But then of course it started me thinking. The potential of a CMSMS is enormous — just think of it — something finally to manage those management systems. I take my hats off to Dean and Matthew for once again breaking new wind ground.
I have already signed a new customer based on the CMSMS concept — it was so easy to sell — I think the extra MS on the end really got them!
Well done to all involved. I for one will look to download come 2 April and begin the merry task of changing all my sites over :)

Re: Wordpattern
the big question is: What’s going to happen to textpattern and textpattern driven sites?
Would txp be discontinued?
Would we be able to migrate the sites to wpt?

All your questions are answered in the Vision-Statement. Full compaitibility wil be ensured, in fact the already available download already shows the way.

I get an error message on installation:
Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_VARIABLE in /opt/lampp/htdocs/wxp/wordpattern/index.php on line 1406

I really hope Textpattern will be gone forever. I never liked it, and never will.
Long live Wordpattern!
