custom field in page title?
Is it possible to place the contents of a custom field between the title tags?
I have been trying to get something like this to work using conditionals but I seem to have a vague recollection that it is not possible to place certain tags outside the body tags but I cannot remember where I read this. I have even attempted to place my call to the custom textfield within a form “wrapper” to circumvent this but it still does not work. Seems like this should be possible since it’s just a variable. Maybe there’s more to it…
Is this possible with or without the need of a plugin? If a plugin is needed, which one?
Thanks,
cpk

Re: custom field in page title?
You cannot use <txp:custom_field /> (and other tags that call part of an article for that matter) outside an article form. So you can create a form with it and call it with <txp:article />. But that’s only possible if you set ‘automatically append comments to articles’ to ‘no’ (see also here).
EDIT: and here.

Thanks for the lightning fast reply Els!
I don’t know how I missed that last one in my forum search. I must be search impaired.

The forum search is not very good. A Better Texpattern Forum Search.

Re: custom field in page title?
The solution you pointed out (second link) is working beautifully! That one is definitely going to get some use.
I will also be sure to use the “better TextPattern forum seach” method next time too.
Thanks again Els!
