Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] vdh_flickr

This depends on how you want to use this feature. I’ve just checked the flickr api, and it seems that this information is only available for individual images, so you would have to make an api call for every image you want to display. An api call takes about 0.5 seconds to excecute, so this not a possible feature for the thumbnail page, but it is possible to do this for individual images. Maybe I will implement this in the next version.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] vdh_flickr

Hey, I love this plugin! I don’t know if I have the latest version or not, but I was noticing that when the tags were shown for an image, the links weren’t being formed properly. When I looked at the code I saw that in the img_tags() function some of the variables were mistyped. I changed two lines in that function:

<pre> function img_tags($separator) { $html = tag($this->raw_tags0,‘a’,’ href=”’ . $this->makeRequest(array(‘tags’ => $this->tags0)) . ‘”’).”\n”; . . . $html .= tag($this->raw_tags[$i],‘a’,’ href=”’ . $this->makeRequest(array(‘tags’ => $this->tags[$i])) . ‘”’).”\n”; . . . }
</pre>
to
<pre> function img_tags($separator) { $html = tag($this->raw_tags0,‘a’,’ href=”’ . $this->makeRequest(array(‘tags’ => $this->raw_tags0)) . ‘”’).”\n”; . . . $html .= tag($this->raw_tags[$i],‘a’,’ href=”’ . $this->makeRequest(array(‘tags’ => $this->raw_tags[$i])) . ‘”’).”\n”; . . . }
</pre>

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] vdh_flickr

Hi,

I’m still unable to get the plugin to work. The only thing I see is “Failed to connect to flickr.com!”
- I’ve ran phpinfo, and I have PHP 4.3.X with DOM-XML enabled;
- I’ve gotten my number from flickr;
- There are two spaces before the tag
- I haven’t used a title for the article;
- And the latest version of textpattern

My textpattern does talk about some security issues and says something about register_globals. I’m don’t know much about php, so that doesn’t really do it for me. The site is in a subdirectory. I read about all the photos being in sets. Is this required? I haven’t read the entire thread, I feel a bit lazy. I’ve tried to get the plugin to work for a couple of days now, hoping it was just the server at Flickr, but alais. My code is: txp:vdh_flickr nsid=“42135728@N00” / (maybe someone can get this to work on their site?)

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] vdh_flickr

Same here: “Failed to connect to Flickr.com”. Seems to be a recent developement with Flickr API or something, as I had this exact same setup working until recently. This is a major bummer, I can’t use it on a production site if it’s going to be breaking constantly.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] vdh_flickr

It works for me!

I have several different sites using this plugin and all work fine right now. I have been working on and viewing a couple of these sites several times a day for the last week and I have had zero “failed to connect” errors. (i am using the latest version of the plugin as well)

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] vdh_flickr

Yeah, it looks like Larf’s demo galleries are working too. Hmmm, I wonder if this is a host related issue. I am currently with DreamHost, running PHP5. Anyone have any ideas of what this could be? It seems doubtful it’s a Flickr issue, but it still might be. I would love to get this working again, it’s by far my favorite gallery solution for TextPattern.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] vdh_flickr

Do you still have the problem? Perhaps some of the flickr servers were temporarily down?

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] vdh_flickr

I hadn’t used this plugin for a while and when I started using it recently some of my older flickr galleries would display, but the new (as of March 2006) galleries would not. Not sure if this is related somehow…

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] vdh_flickr

Since I’m not having these problems, I thought I’d throw out some more info. in case it helps: Bluehost is my server and I am still using PHP 4.4.1 with version vdh_flickr_0.8.7.txt of the plugin.

Here is one of my sites using vdh_flickr – there are 10 flickr galleries featured and they all belong to separate flickr accounts (I am pretty sure that every account was created since the switch to Yahoo).

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] vdh_flickr

Yes!! I found out why I couldn’t get the plugin to work!! I used the tiny wysiwyg editor plugin, and that probably screwed up my code.. It works!

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] vdh_flickr

From the sounds of it, it’s a DreamHost issue. Anyone have any luck with this? Maybe a recent upgrade at DH broke it?
