Best way to install multiple Textpattern on one server?
(Removed double post. – Els)
EDIT: Oh I’m sorry, removed one and both disappeared! Would you mind posting again Kelper? I’m really really sorry :(

Re: Best way to install multiple Textpattern on one server?
Sure,
What would be the best way to install multiple instances of Textpattern on to a single webserver? I’m going to be using add-on domains so I can have multiple websites, but I’d like them all to use Textpattern.
What would be the best way to do this? Install one main Textpattern script in the public_html and create individual folders and install a Textpattern script inside of each? Would there be a better way to do this?
Also, how hard would it be to transfer between hosts with that setup? Is it just a matter of saving the files and saving the databases and uploading them to the new server?
BTW, I don’t know why, but when I make a topic, one of the replies is the topic itself.

kelper, I’m glad you noticed the problem, I was afraid that you’d be waiting and waiting for replies to your now non-existent question… ;)

That is perfectly doable. I’m running several sites with one install in the main domain and each subdomain has it’s own TXP install and database.

There is an interesting thread here, that you might want to read.

Not harder than moving one site/install I should think. Just a bit more work.

I’m not sure I understand what you mean here. Do you mean the fact that your posts show up twice? That’s part of the problem that caused me to accidentally delete your post completely, instead of just one of two. It has been discussed here, but it doesn’t seem te be resolved completely :(

Alright, thanks. I hadn’t noticed what had happened to this topic until it was on the next page. I just check if the replies read higher than 0. I went inside the post about to bump it, and I saw what happened.
