messed up db access to forms and links

Hi,

I was testing out something with my config.php, changed it back, but now my textpattern installation doesn’t seem to grab the forms from the db. In addition the links are broken….

Site is at http://www.iyow.com . The index.php tries to build the page – the comments are viewable in the source – but none of the template information, etc. It’s also really slow.

Did i mess up something in how it interacts w/ the db?

regards,
~jt

Sorry to be blunt, but we have nowhere near enough information to help you troubleshoot this issue. Please see the FAQ: How should I ask for help on the forum?

At a minimum we will need to know what you changed in config.php.

Re: messed up db access to forms and links

Hi,

I’m sorry if that sounded way too vague – the changes I made (and reverted) seemed so minimal, I’m scratching my head re what happened. Let me know if I should post this elsewhere.

In config.php, I’d tested using var sourced from another file for the password, then just reverted to my original config.

In index.php, I’d added a line to include another file to source the var, then removed those lines.

Diagnostic flight check all seems normal, and I can access the textpattern interface as normal.

The site seems to connect to the database with the current password; I’d tested mysql access at command-line, and tested using false passwords in the config and saw it unable to connect. Current config.php is correct and produces the expected page on http://iyow.com/ but without forms, style information, working links. Also, refreshes are really slow.

Any insight into the source of the problem would be greatly appreciated. Let me know if there are other bits of info that would help.

thanks,
~JT

I can’t see anything broken.

Re: messed up db access to forms and links

Interesting – I just changed the url from www.iyow.com to iyow.com, and it works now. For some reason my DNS server is not responding to requests for www.iyow.com, though it’s been working for well over 5 months now.

With the uniform site URL (without www), the css file links etc. are valid and don’t break.

Thanks for reading….
