feature idea for this whole support forum

there’s a lot of great links here and i hate losing my place on this site
why not have all external links open in new windows?

just my 2¢

hi xrussox,
if you use Mozilla Firefox, you can easily open any link in a new tab with the middle mouse button, without losing the focus for the content you are viewing.

For me, with two buttons and a big ole trackball mouse it’s right click T to open link in a new window.

Or in FF you can customise say the navigation toolbar and add a “New Tab” icon – one click and a new tab. Or Ctrl-T (Mozilla) Ctrl-Alt-N (Opera).

Personally, I hate it when web pages spawn new windows without asking.

Nope.

Because as a web user, you can easily choose to open any links in a new tab or window.

On the other hand, if we tried to force it, there were no easy way (and I mean no easy way) not to if a web user don’t want to.

Opening new windows on a link is a bad, very bad use, way too common.

In Internet Explorer, either right-click on the link and choose “Open in New Window”, or hold down the Shift key and click on the link with your mouse.

Please don’t ever do this.

Don’t worry about it, ‘taint gonna happen.
