Re: PunBB integration?

Nice work so far guys ;)

On the issue of txp article x/html, textile or bbcode coming over to punbb?…
The xhtml should be fine for my uses? (unless theres an issue I’m not seeing ATM?)
I keep my article markup super clean, 1/2dz tags tops… h1,h2,h3,p with an occasinal ul/li & img.

On the ‘future’ article issue…
That sounds cool! ;)

On the semantics issue.. I agree, but would prefer downsizing to larger than mentioned. I rarely use below h4, they always give me this ugly “mini-bold” text :( regardless of styles.

Pretty sure I’m forgetting something?I’m back in the converstion though.
Going to go read thru the whole thread again.

cheers

Re: PunBB integration?

CSS takes care of the presentation. You can have h6 in pink with giant naked dancing girls by it, no problem :)

On the format of the post, the thing is native PunBB only allows bbcode (and a lite version of it). I would suggest to investigate if the 1.3 branch would allow more easily, or if we stick to parsing from xhtml to bbcode.

But then, we need a Textile->Textile parsing, because I suspect several (most ?) users of TXP+PunBB will mod their PunBB to work with Textile. In that case, the only parsing needed imo are the headers downsizing, and adding a class to blockquote (because raw blockquote are used to quote a previous post, and that could be misleading).

Re: PunBB integration?

I’ve had problems in the past styling the boldness of header tags, to normal font weight.
Probably just overlooked some inheritance from another style somewhere? :)

Are we going to do this thing?

The clock is ticking & I need this baby real soon.
I’d much rather do this as a community project, but a private fork is my backup plan.
I can’t afford to let any more projects hit the mothball bin because of this.

cheers

Re: PunBB integration?

Dawk,

There has been no commit to SVN yet from Rickard.

As soon as I see something new, I’ll install it locally and start playing with it. I think we’re all in the same situation since what we decide to do should be done with PunBB 1.3.

I’m as anxious to get this going as you are, I have a few projects waiting for this bridge.

Re: PunBB integration?

I’m ready to do a bridge for 1.2.11, ‘cuz I need it real soon now.
Planning on doing a few other hacks to pun on this project, so I’ll have to diff update anyway.

Probably be a good dry run for the 1.3 bridge too.

Re: PunBB integration?

Dawk,

Using PunBB 1.3’s extension system will save you from doing any diffs now and into the future.

I already have Pun bridged but this time I really want to make the systems seem as one, there’s the TXP content feed but there’s also the interaction back from Pun. The displaying of article replies back into TXP should be a Pun extension, as the comment entry could also be.

Work could begin on the content feed from TXP, I could find out what database changes are coming for 1.3 if you’d like.

Think of the possibilites ;)
