using a custom field value as an attribute

needing quote marks around both the custom field name and the <code><a href=”“></code> is breaking my form

<code><txp:if_custom_field name=‘purchase-URL’>available from <a href=”<txp:custom_field name=‘purchase-URL’>” > <txp:custom_field name=‘purchase-URL’ /></a></txp:if_custom_field></code>

as u can see, I tried to use single quotes for the custom_field name but it still breaks…

is there a way around it?
some php hackery maybe?
