How safe is Paypal?
OK, so I see Paypal is the TXP community’s choice way of doing business. My question is: how safe is it? Do I need a separate bank account or is my main account safe to be linked to it?

All you need is a bank account. No need for a seperate bank acc. I consider PAYPAL to be safe. Very easy handling.

Paypal is safe, just beware of spam emails with links to verify your account or something to that effect.
I’ve been using Paypal for the last couple of years, haven’t had my bank account cleaned out yet ;)

Yeah, the emails suck, but what about a client, who gets those? You set them up with Paypal and you make them vulnerable to the spam, and possible identity theft. That blows. NOt that you would NECESSARILY be liable, but it feels unprofessional. Shouldn’t PAYPAL (ebay) be more aggressive about this stuff?

There’s nothing you can do but educate the populace, I don’t think you’d be liable if you gave your client the lowdown.
Spam is spam, whether it’s email, comments or of the referrer variety. I’m sick of it by now and I think it’s only going to get worst. Looks like the future will usher in the trusted net, want to communicate with me or view my websites, then are you a trusted source, etc.

I have never gotten fake paypal spam on my real email account—of course I’m careful where I leave it. I have gotten the spams to two accounts I have never used on paypal, so I recognize immediately that they are not from the real paypal.
If you are setting up clients with paypal, why not suggest a paypal only email account and stress they not use that anyplace else.
Or perhaps I’m the only person who hasn’t gotten spam on my regular email account?

Well, it sounds so far that Paypal is pretty safe and so I will go and set up an account so that I can donate now and again. As for spam . . . I’m using Gmail and tho we get spam it ALWAYS goes to the spam folder—so very nice!
