Re: How do I use this forum?

PunBB isn’t “bad” per se, it just doesn’t have some built-in features I always like the use of (customizable date format as just one example).

I wonder if there are mods that would help? I wandered over to the punBB forum and looked around a bit. There are polls mods that might be useful for quick readings/answers and I would love a better printing mechanism (as it is I use “disable all CSS styles” in FF) and then every post wastes paper by printing the title in bold letters . . . I guess that might just be a matter of the style sheet tho . . .) A preview post feature would be nice.

Edit: I must be blind or dyslexic—this reminds me of when I read “Code is Pottery” as “Code is Poetry”. THE PREVIEW BUTTON IS THERE. It works. I’m just blind.

Edit: OK so I lied; the preview feature is only available if you “quote”; not if you go to the bottom of the page and just compost—that is in Firefox 1.5.0.1.

Re: How do I use this forum?

BBCode: I frequent many forums, they all use BBCode except this one. I sometimes forget about using Textile and I end up having to go back and make edits. Like if I enter a full url and forget to wrap it with Textile, I’ve seen much of that here. Also, I haven’t quite figured out how quoting works, some people quote while some just leave the ‘>’ in place.

PunBB: I haven’t found a lightweight forum that does as much as Pun, version 1.3 should bring some nice features that have long been requested by users.

Re: How do I use this forum?

@hcgtv

The quote link does’t seem to work well for me—it gives the “>” that you described but often doesn’t give me the <code> bq. </code> that produces the

the box look like this.

It would be nice to use some of the screen real estate maybe to the right of the message compose box to display a textile cheatsheet but I guess no one has that sort of access to the forum . . . the super admin is MIA?
