A couple of questions

Hi. I’m new to textpattern, so far I really like it. It’s what I was looking for.

Anyway, is there a better editor available as a plugin for textpattern? Textpattern needs one that keeps cursor position when saving, captures tabs, and has syntax highlighting (php, css and textile). There is bound to be a textbox replacement that could be plugged into textpattern. Has anyone already made such a plugin?

I would also like to have it show the last modification time for forms, pages and css files when editing them (as it does for articles). This probably should be built into textpattern at some point. Is there currently a plugin that will do this?

Thanks.

“Need” is an interesting adjective.

Nope, no such plugin(s). Just this one.

There’s also the <a href=“http://textpattern.org/plugins/505/haktinymce”>TinyMCE plugin</a>, but I doubt a WYSWYG editor is what you’re looking for.

I agree—I haven’t seen any demand for this until now. Of course, you’re always welcome to contribute a plugin to address this lack; from your post, I’d say you have the necessary skills to write one, if you so chose.

Re: A couple of questions

A better inline editor would be more inviting to aspiring textpattern designers and plugin developers. Whether or not textpattern needs it is obviously a matter of opinion. I realize that it’s a lot to ask, which is precisely why I did not ask for someone to do it, I simply asked if it had already been done.

In any case, after some more searching it seems that improving the efficency of editing files in textpattern is a recurring request and there are some indications that others are working on it (talking about it anyway). Also prior to posting I overlooked Sencer’s plugin development tip. If I need a more efficient way to edit the presentation files I’ll write something to batch transfer the files from/to mysql so I can work with them in an ide, or plug in one of the js based textarea replacements.

Thanks for the tab capture plugin.

Ah, well, if you want to edit files, you might find <a href=“http://www.woods-fehr.com/txp/8/link-template-2-file”>Link Template 2 File</a> to be of interest.
